This workshop is filled with tips and techniques for quilters and beginners. If you have never quilted or wish to brush up on existing skills you will learn something new each week. Susan will share with you her years of experience starting with all the info needed to set yourself up with the right equipment before you go out and purchase anything. In no time at all, you will be putting the tips into practice and producing a set of samples to refer back to or start a quilt of your own.
CLASS BREAKDOWN FOR PATCHWORK TECHNIQUES

Week 1 9.30-12.00
Demonstration only - I will talk about:
Tools Basic tool kit (I will provide a list for each student)
Design tools
Marking tools
Measuring and cutting tools
Sewing tools
Pressing tools
Gismos and gadgets
Materials Fabrics
Threads and needles
Battings
Buying and storing fabric
Using colour
Cutting and measuring
Weeks 2 and 3
Students to bring the basic tool kit and fabric as discussed in the previous class
Subjects covered:
¼” seams
Cutting accurate ½ square triangles and ¼ square triangles
Matching seams
Partial seams
Chain piecing
Cornerstones
Connectors
Cutting and sewing triangle units
Using templates
Stitch and flip
Curved seams
Bindings
Borders and sashings
Quilting - hand and machine, buttons, knotted, etc
Week 4 Foundation paper piecing - I will provide paper foundation patterns and an instruction sheet.
Students to bring the basic tool kit and fabric.
