Touch of Texture
Touch of Texture
Date: Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st of June
Time: 10 am till 3pm
Tutor: Ailie Snow
The aim of this workshop is to look at many different ways of creating texture, depth and dimension on stitchable surfaces.
We will study some of my favourite tips and tricks, along with diverse ways to employ stitch. I’ll show you how the effects are achieved, and then you will have the opportunity to make your own samples, trying out whatever interests you the most. These samples may form the basis of a new piece of work, or they can be collated into a small concertina book for your future reference.
Outcome :
Students will be encouraged to experience the effects of various techniques designed to manipulate and distress fabrics, to create surfaces with materials other than the usual fabrics, and to embellish these surfaces with objects, and layers of textural stitching. My aim is to encourage experimentation, and to expand the approach to stitched work.
